Cake Smash Milestones

Booking is essential for our 1st Birthday Cake Smash sessions, as these are such a special way to celebrate your little one turning one.

This milestone deserves to be remembered — with cake, smiles, messy little hands and a fun bubble bath to finish.

I recommend booking 2 months in advance and scheduling your child’s cake smash photoshoot at least 2 weeks before their first birthday. This allows enough time for your session, hand-editing and delivery of your final gallery, so you have your images ready to celebrate their big day.

Once your Cake Smash & Splash session is booked, I’ll make sure everything is planned and ready for your little one’s special day.

I’m always happy to chat through colours, styling, outfits and any ideas you may have for your session. If you’ve seen inspiration images or a theme you love, you’re welcome to send them over, and we can discuss how to create something similar that suits your little one.

Your Cake Smash session includes a simple, beautifully styled setup with a backdrop, decorative banner and loose balloons to create a fun and timeless look.

If you’d like a more detailed theme, such as a balloon arch, teddies, themed props, or extra styling, you’re welcome to provide these yourself, or you can choose the Complete package, which includes additional decorations.

No, you will need to bring an outfit for your child to wear during their session.

Yes, all our packages include cake. Depending on which session package you choose, you will either have a 1-layer sponge cake, a 2-layer naked cake, or a 2-tier drip cake, perfect for capturing those messy moments during a cake smash photoshoot.

A Cake Smash & Splash photoshoot is a fun, messy and adorable way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday.

We’ll start with a few simple portraits of your little one before introducing the cake. Then comes the fun part — watching them explore, taste, squish and enjoy their cake in their own way. Some babies dive straight in, while others take a little time to warm up, and that’s completely normal.

After the cake smash, we finish with a splash bath. This is always a lovely part of the session, giving your baby time to play, splash and enjoy the bubbles while I capture those sweet final moments.

The session is relaxed, baby-led and full of personality, creating beautiful memories of this special first birthday photography milestone.

I have two baths (one small and one larger) to accommodate baby bums of all sizes. I use Dove Baby or Mamia bubbles in a bubble bath. If your little one has sensitive skin, feel free to bring your own soap. For a milk bath, I typically use almond milk, while for a fruit bath, I’ll add whatever fruits you prefer. Additionally, I can provide flowers or leaves to complement the styling of your children's photography session. We discuss all these details during the booking process and before your session.

After your shoot, you’ll receive access to your private online gallery where you can choose your favourite images from your cake smash photoshoot. If you wish, you can also upgrade your package at this time.
